Classic Lemon Lemonade Recipe

  • 1 cup (240 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) pure raw honey or 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar, to taste
  • 5 cups (1.2 liters) cold filtered water
  • Ice cubes or crushed ice for serving
  • Lemon slices and mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Recommended Equipment

  • Blender: With a large wet container, it’s the easiest way to dissolve the sweetener in water.

How to Make Classic Lemon Lemonade Recipe

Sweet Syrup: In a blender, combine 1 cup (240ml) of water and the honey or granulated sugar. Blend until the sweetener is dissolved. You can use the soup setting to dissolve it faster. Let it cool.

Sweetener Tip: Honey: Adds a natural sweetness with a hint of floral flavor, making the lemonade slightly more complex and rich. Sugar: Dissolves easily to blend seamlessly with the lemon juice, offering a straightforward, clean sweetness that balances the tartness.

Lemons: While the syrup is cooling, juice the lemons to get 1 cup (240ml) of fresh lemon juice. Strain the juice to remove any seeds or pulp if desired.

Mix the Lemonade: Combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the cooled syrup, and the remaining 4 cups (960 ml) of ice-cold water. Give it another quick blend, taste, and adjust the sweetness if needed.

Chill: Transfer the lemonade to a large pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to enhance its refreshing flavors.

Chilling Tip: Avoid storing lemonade with ice in the container as it will dilute the flavor as the ice melts. Add ice to individual serving glasses instead.

Serve: Serve the lemonade over ice cubes. Garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves if desired.

Serving Tips: For the best taste and presentation, serve the lemonade immediately after adding ice and garnishes.

Storage & Serving

Storage: Keep the lemonade refrigerated at all times and consumed within 2-3 days for optimal flavor.

Serving: Lemonade may separate over time, so give it a good stir or shake before serving.
