Orange-Blueberry Sauce Recipe
- 3 cups (450g) fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup (4 fl.oz./120ml) fresh orange juice from 2 Navel oranges
- 1/2 – 1 teaspoon (5ml) raw honey or maple syrup, to taste
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) fresh lemon juice from 1 lemon
- 1 teaspoon (3g) cornstarch (leveled)
- 1-2 (3-inch/3g) sticks of cinnamon or ½ teaspoon (1.3g) of ground cinnamon

- Saucepan with a tight-fitting lid for cooking the sauce.
- Mason jar with a tight seal for storing the sauce.

How To Make Orange-Blueberry Sauce
Prepare Ingredients: Wash and sort through fresh blueberries, discarding any bruised or spoiled berries. Cut and juice the fresh lemon and Navel orange.
Combine Ingredients: In a saucepan, combine fresh blueberries, orange juice, raw honey (or sweetener of choice), and add a cinnamon stick if using. If you’re using ground cinnamon, you’ll add it a bit later.
Make Slurry: Whisk lemon juice with cornstarch until smooth, and add the slurry to the pan, this will thicken the sauce as it cooks.
Cook Sauce: Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat. Cover with a lid, reduce heat to medium-low (#3), and cook for about 5 minutes until the blueberries burst and the sauce thickens slightly, stirring occasionally.
Add Ground Cinnamon: If using ground cinnamon, stir it into the sauce during the last minute of cooking.
Taste and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey or your preferred sweetener, if needed.
Remove Cinnamon Stick: If you used a cinnamon stick, remove it from the sauce.


Note: The sauce’s consistency will thicken upon cooling. If it’s too thin, simmer it for a bit longer to allow it to thicken further. Conversely, if it becomes too thick, you can add a splash of orange juice to thin it out.


Cool and Serve: Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool slightly. Enjoy the warm sauce as a topping, or transfer it to a mason jar or another airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.
